On August 8, Magnolia Police Department charged Tre'larenz Dequan Flowers with possession of a firearm on school property. Investigators received information about a possible school shooting set to take place at a school pep rally, and extra officers were posted around the area. Flowers was stopped while driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe that displayed tags from a different vehicle.

Flowers, who graduated from Magnolia High School in 2022, was apparently planning to "retaliate" toward a group of students who offended him during the Sparks in the Park event on July 3rd. Investigators received tips about Flowers' vehicle as well as past threats made while in possession of a firearm.

Police found an AR-15 rifle in the vehicle that Flowers was operating. Flowers made a comment about forging the tags on the vehicle, which apparently belonged to a Toyota Tacoma. According to Magnolia Reporter, Flowers is currently being detained in Columbia County Justice and Detention Facility while awaiting his next court appearance on October 3rd. His bond is currently set at $100,000, and he will not be permitted to set foot near school property should he be released on bond.
