Southern Arkansas University Hosts Homecoming Festivities

Southern Arkansas University hosted its annual Homecoming celebration on Saturday, October 5, celebrating the "Ride of a Lifetime". The event drew in a large crowd full of students, alumni, and locals.

The day kicked off with a dedication to Eric "Berger" Engelberger at 10 a.m. According to Magnolia Reporter, several benches were placed at Berger Circle in the center of campus in order to commemorate his service to Southern Arkansas University.

Mulegating began at 11 a.m., inviting campus organizations to show off their booths in celebration alongside visitors. Groups of friends and family met at the Alumni Center in preparation for the game.

The Homecoming Ceremony took place at 2 p.m. in Wilkins Stadium. Madison Johnson, a political science major from Smackover Arkansas, was crowned Homecoming Queen. Oreoluwa Onifade, a mechanical engineering major from Lagos, Nigeria was named Homecoming King. Johnson was nominated by the Student Activities Board while Onifade was nominated by International Student Services.

The annual Southern Arkansas University Homecoming football game followed the ceremony at 2:30 p.m., facing off against Southern Nazarene University. The evening concluded with a Greek show at 7 p.m. and a Black Student Association Reunion at 8 p.m.
