     Recent Arrests in Columbia County

The most current arrest report was recently made available by the Magnolia Police Department according to Magnolia Reporter. During the October 28- November 3 period, a total of thirteen arrests were made. 

Alexia Parker- theft of property over $1,000, financial identity fraud
Tyvian Witcher- failure to appear in court
Betty Beal- forgery first degree
Iris Banks- aggravated assault, DWI
Cora Chambers- assault third degree, 
Torez Young- failure to appear in court
Bobby Daniels- terroristic threatening
Kewun Hampon- disorderly conduct
Johnyy Cornelious- possession of cocaine, maintaining drug premises
Gabirel Muldrew- domestic battering third degree
Danien Jines- domestic battering third degree
Susie Grissom- theft of property under $1,000

All arrests have been kept in the Columbia County Justice and Detention Facility.

 My Summer With Daniel Springs Camp This last summer, I spent two months as a camp staffer at  Daniel Springs Baptist Camp in Gary, Texas. Daniel Springs is a Baptist summer camp where churches can bring their kids to spend a few days. Groups can rent out the camp for different events, or they can attend one of the four camps that take place throughout the summer. My job as a staffer was to lead a small group of kids through daily lessons and rec games.  The summer started all the way back in May, when all of the staff arrived at DSBC to move in for the summer. Because our group of staff was so small, with about twenty-five people, we grew closer throughout our first few weeks doing maintenance on the campgrounds.  Washington Post App The Washington Post is an incredibly well-known source of information for many Americans, and its app provides accessibility in several ways. The opening screen features several options including the latest news and top stories as well as more specific options such as opinion, well-being, lifestyle, and politics. These options ensure that every reader can easily find something informative or entertaining.  In addition to the vast amount of article options, the Washington Post app also includes a listening section where users can listen to podcasts or verbal explanations of the most current events. This makes the Washington Post stand out, since not every news app contains content for the visually impaired or people on the go who need to stay informed.  This app also does not require a subscription, unlike its parent website.  Judy Garland's Ruby Slippers Sell for $28 Million On December 7, a pair of ruby slippers used in the 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz" were sold for $28 million dollars.  Heritage Auctions initially estimated that the shoes would be sold at $3 million. The bid eventually went to an auction participant over the phone.  According to  CNN , the shoes were stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 2005. However, they were recovered by the FBI in Minneapolis during 2018. Currently, only four pairs are currently known to exist, with one pair residing in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.  Ruby Slippers Display at Smithsonian Museum Rhys Thomas, the author of "Ruby Slippers of Oz", stated that the slippers "transcended Hollywood, to the point where they represented the powerful image of innocence to all America."
