  University of Texas in Austin Planning the Restoration of UT Tower Night View of UT Tower The University of Texas at Austin is planning on beginning the restoration of the historic UT Tower. According to UT News , the Texas System Board of Regents approved a $70 million budget when the "Our Tower: The Next 100 Years" project was proposed in August.  UT Tower near the end of its original construction in 1937. This restoration will mark the first renovation of the tower since its original completion in 1937. UT System Board of Regents Chairman Kevin P. Eltife stated "The most iconic symbol of the University of Texas, the Tower represents the long-standing tradition of excellence this great University is known for." The renovation is set to begin in November of 2024. The major restoration plans include revitalizing the exterior stonework, windows, gilding, and clockface.  Shooting at Albany State University At 8:50 p.m. on October 19, a shooting took place at Georgia's Albany State University. According to  ABC News , the shooting occurred during the Homecoming festivities. A total of six people were struck, with nineteen-year-old De'Marion Tashawn Daniels left dead.  Interim Albany State President Lawrence M. Drake II stated "As, always, the safety and security of our ASU students, faculty and staff are the number one priority of this situation." In addition to the death of Tashawn, five girls aged 13, 16, 17, 19, and 20 were injured while attempting to leave the scene according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Although no arrests have been made yet, the GBI is working to find suspects.

Southern Arkansas University Hosts Homecoming Festivities Southern Arkansas University hosted its annual Homecoming celebration on Saturday, October 5, celebrating the "Ride of a Lifetime". The event drew in a large crowd full of students, alumni, and locals.  "Ride of a Lifetime" display on the front windows of Magale Library.  The day kicked off with a dedication to Eric "Berger" Engelberger at 10 a.m. According to  Magnolia Reporter , several benches were placed at Berger Circle in the center of campus in order to commemorate his service to Southern Arkansas University.  Berger Circle Dedication Mulegating began at 11 a.m., inviting campus organizations to show off their booths in celebration alongside visitors. Man Apprehended on the Charges of Firearm Possession on School Property 20 year old Tre'larenz Dequan Flowers                                                             On August 8, Magnolia Police Department charged Tre'larenz Dequan Flowers with possession of a firearm on school property. Investigators received information about a possible school shooting set to take place at a school pep rally, and extra officers were posted around the area. Flowers was stopped while driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe that displayed tags from a different vehicle.  Flowers, who graduated from Magnolia High School in 2022, was apparently planning to "retaliate" toward a group of students who offended him during the Sparks in the Park event on July 3rd.
